Mondsee also has many cultural sights and traditions which are worth seeing, for example the Rauchhaus, the Pfahlbaumuseum or the oldest Baroque church in Austria. The Mondsee brass band and the Tiefgraben Trachtenmusik band are among the associations most steeped in tradition in the MondSeeLand and are regarded as the musical flagship of the region. The repertoire of the ensembles ranges from traditional, Austrian brass and symphonic music through church- and light music to the finest folk music and cool big band sound.
Excursions to the Attersee and Wolfgangsee lakes, up the Schafberg, to the nearby Salt mine or to the world’s largest glacial cave are also recommended. The festival city of Salzburg is only twenty minutes away by car and has a lot to offer culturally; large shopping centres and the picturesque Getreidegasse. So whether its shopping or going to the theatre or a concert, there's something here for everyone.
